The first warehouse of Lemminkäinen
which housed the workshop, warehouse and office space. It was built
in Merisatama district
of Helsinki. The main products of the company – concrete stairs
and steps – were stored in the yard in the early days.
Lemminkäinen is one of the largest groups of building companies
in Finland founded in 1910. At first, the company’s business was
limited to waterproofing and bituminous material works on roads
and yards, but a bit later it expanded the scope of the services
with concrete products. With Finland’s independence from Russia
in 1916, the company boosted its development and opened its first
roofing factory in 1920.
